OT: A Happy Household

A lot of you know my three girls all play tennis, even my "lil' peanut" (who is 7).  My two older girls are 16 and 14 so one is a junior and the other an incoming freshman.  Both have been busting their behinds since we got back from summer vacation in hopes of earning one of eight spots on the high school's Varsity tennis team.  During our parent meeting tonight, the two coaches announced the team and BOTH my girls made the Varsity team!!!  WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!  I'm happy FOR them of course, but selfishly, I'm happy because I won't have to hear one whining and complaining all the time had one made it and one didn't.  Plus, that means when we go watch them play, we have the SAME match to go watch instead of two seperate ones!!!  It is tough though because of course some kids didn't get on and are still on Jr. Varsity again so you feel their disappointment.  I had told the girls ahead of time that NO MATTER what the decision, they need to keep their emotions in check, which they did.  They waited until they got home to jump up and down repeatedly like they were 5 years old!!!  Sooo, that's my "proud momma" moment for the day!!!

Well, the only part that helps is that both girls will have matches on the same day, same place.  Had we had one kiddo on Varsity and one on Jr. Varsity, that would have meant THREE matches a week in three seperate locations.  Varsity plays two matches a week and JV only has one match a week.  Of course that is in addition to daily practice.  Sooo, with daily practice, their matches, and Sarah's tennis lessons, this mommy will be on the road all five days a week shuttling kiddos to/from the court!

I'm excited for them both though as both will earn their letterman jackets by being on Varsity.  Heather, the oldest, had that as her main goal in high school (aside of graduating of course!).  Pretty cool though that the younger one earns a spot on Varsity her freshman year!!!

Good luck to your son, too!!!  I'm sure he'll do GREAT!

They are definitely excited!  They will be grown and out on their own in no time so even though life is MAJOR hectic, we try to take in as much as possible knowing it won't last long....

Woo Hoo for the girls, I am excited for both of them!  Woo Hoo for Mom, and not having to split into 2 different people, having to be at a different place at the same time!  You amaze me at keeping it all together and on schedule with 3 girls!

Thanks Avis!  We're happy for them because tennis is becoming tough competition around here.  Thankfully at Katy High School, a lot of parents move into the district so their kids can get on the football team since that is definitely "THE" sport at KHS.  Three other high schools around here have very good tennis programs and OMG, it is next to impossible for kids to even make JV let alone Varsity so at least our kids CAN get on a team but slowly but surely the team here is getting stronger.  It used to be only the top 2-3 kids were good and the rest were just ok, now you really have to knock it out to get on and thankfully my two girls fueled each other in a positive way and both won all their challenge/position matches but one.  Hubby and I are excited that we don't have multiple matches at different locations though.  That gets old!!!  The funny part....the two older girls' little sister, Sarah, will end up being better than the both of them if she sticks with it.  She loves it so I don't see her getting away from it anytime soon!!!

I just don't like going to people's houses. I'd rather meet at Starbucks.
